DOT Physical Exams

At our office your DOT exam will be thorough, quick and efficient at getting you back on the road. Upon passing your exam you will receive your medical certificate. A passing DOT certification is valid for up to 24 months. The medical examiner may also issue a medical examiner’s certificate for less than 24 months when it is desirable to monitor a condition, such as high blood pressure.

The visit includes the DOT physical examination, visual acuity, basic hearing test, urinalysis (blood, sugar and protein) and a medical certificate.  The DOT physical urinalysis test is not a drug test.  The DOT medical certificate is completed at the end of your DOT physical exam and submitted to the FMCSA. In addition, we will remind you before its time for your next CDL medical certificate renewal.

• DOT driver exams: As part of our dedication to comprehensive patient care, Louisiana Accident Injury Care & Occupational Medicine offers DOT exams for commercial driver’s licenses and physicals for drivers who don’t require a CDL but who haul enough weight to require a DOT exam.
• DOT drug and alcohol testing: We offer DOT alcohol and DOT/Non-DOT drug testing as well. A basic DOT exam does not include drug and alcohol testing, but it can be performed at the same time as your regular exam if it’s required by your company. Drug and alcohol testing requires a separate test and is not included in the cost of a basic DOT exam.
• Pain management: We’ve seen lots of repetitive strain and sprain injuries in the drivers that have come through our clinic. On top of DOT exams for drivers, we also offer regular chiropractic services to help relieve pain in your back, neck, shoulders, hips, and legs.
• Appointments: To make things as convenient for you as possible walk-ins are welcome, however, scheduling an appointment is highly recommended and helps guarantee availability at a specific time as well as minimizing your wait.

• The National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners is a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) program. It requires all medical examiners (MEs) who wish to perform physical examinations for interstate commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers to be trained and certified in FMCSA physical qualification standards. Medical examiners who have completed the training and successfully passed the test are included in an online directory on the National Registry website.A Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination is conducted by a licensed “medical examiner.” The term includes, but is not limited to, doctors of medicine (MD), doctors of chiropractic (DC), doctors of osteopathy (DO), advanced practice nurses (APN) and physician assistants (PA).  At Louisiana Accident & Injury Care in West Monroe and Tallulah LA you will receive your DOT exam by a FMCSA National Registry Certified Medical Examiner.
